The Carpet and The Paint

SO, the carpet layers came this morning!! A little later than expected, but better late than never.
This is a before picture of the converted garage. Nice curtains huh? I think that they are still in the trash can at the curb if there are any takers! The carpet was icky and smelly and after we picked it all up we found the reason! The previous owners must have kept their dog in this room-gross. I primed and primed over the smelly spots with an oder killing primer, and then used a pet and all other smelly things oder remover spray (Thank you Sarah!) and I think that took care of it....I hope. Below is the room after paint and carpet.
When the kids first came in to see the carpet they all hit the floor to do "carpet angels"-- picture any movie where the people have been out to sea or on a scary plane ride and kiss the ground when they finally land. That is what my kids did- you would have thought that they had never seen carpet! (OK so I felt like doing it too and after I sent the carpet guys off, I may have done the same thing)
I KNOW that my paint job looks uneven back there, but that is because I ripped out the old baseboards to make way for something better! (this last one is a converted garage- it will be our exercise room/office)

Here I am looking absolutely stunning! I know, Home depot should use me in their ads. Yeah you're seeing it right! The carpet in the family room was GLUED down on top of at least 2 layers of linoleum. I bet you are wondering if we took up all those layers??? nope we sure didn't.
BEAUTIFUL carpet and a happy bookshelf! It took 2 HOURS to prime this beast! Dave took out the extra shelves so that we could put our TV in there and out of reach of little sticky fingers....I would have posted the picture of him doing it- but apparently those photos were not good enough. Suffice it to say that he looked extremely manly with his safety goggles and power tool. That back wall is pretty splintered so we are just going to put another thin layer of plywood over top.

Thanks to some great friends this room is painted! it is a blue grey on top and "swan white" on bottom. Eventually the trim around the windows will be white and the room will have board and batten like this minus the hooks.
