A Magical day

We spent all day outside yesterday!  It was the best day ever!  We "picked" a pool off of a friend and set it up, and hung a tree swing.  For dinner we had microwave hamburgers---I know, you are thinking yeeeck.  Don't knock it till you try them, they were being sampled at Sam's the other day- they are no joke!  They are seriously better than a lot of chain restaurant burgers--which I realize isn't that hard--try them!! Anyway we had a watermelon too- and since we haven't unpacked out cutting board or knives we put the melon in a grocery bag and dropped it on the ground and broke it in half and dug in with spoons :)  awesome!
There were 3 of these barrels on the back porch.  I considered junking them but yesterday I decided to fill them with hostas.  A FREE "fix" since we have almost too many hostas in the back and side  of the house.

 soooo much better!
Here comes the pool!  The backyard grass is pretty sparse, so wherever we put the pool was going to end up being a mud hole.  So we decided to put it on the back porch.
About 5 minutes after I took this picture the kids were in it.  With a *promise* that they wouldn't splash all the water out.  After about 5 hours it still wasn't full--but big enough to do some torpedos from one side to the other.....it was SUPER cold though!  I didn't get in but Dave took the hit for the team and got in, he couldn't resist.
The first berry!!  OK well this wasn't the first, I ate that little guy a few days ago and it was delicious :)  Look at this guy though!  does life get any better than this?
A handful of happiness.  It is a little blurry- that is how humid it was on Saturday- every time we opened up the camera  the lens fogged up.
After a few "discussions" on knots we finally looked up "tree swing knots" online. In case you wanted to know- the top knot on the tree is a bowline and the swing has 3 half hitches on each side.
You would have thought it was a roller coaster ride!  On Grace's first underdog we weren't sure she was still breathing!  Our neighbors might have thought we were abusing our kids because of all the screaming- but of course they all wanted more and  more and more.  The only one that was not "terrified" was Harrison- but he has always been our thrill junkie.

  1. Sounds like a fun day to me! If we stayed outdoors all day in Arizona would would be fried green tomatoes. Jealous that you can! And jealous of your cracked watermelon binging. YUM.
